How to Plan a Perfect Ladakh Tour from Israel

Many Israelis who have planned for a trip to Kashmir have landed up in Leh Ladakh since last year due to the lockdown in Kashmir. It seems Israelis are all over Leh Ladakh to enjoy its pristine beauty and magical vibes. Let us see what are the ways to reach Ladakh if you are planning to travel from Israel :
You can reach from Israel to Ladakh through flight, bus or car. The distance from Israel to Leh is 3972 kms. The quickest  and cheapest way to travel to Ladakh from Israel is through flight. One can fly to Ladakh in the flight of 13 hours and 18 minutes including transfers. Let us check out the travel itinerary one can follow for a perfect vacation to Leh Ladakh.

​Day 1. Israel to Leh

Welcome to the land of high passes. Your journey begins at Israel Airport when you board a flight to Leh’s Bakula airport. Leh is the largest town of Ladakh and is based at an altitude of 11700 feet and above. Our representatives will escort you to the Hotel once you land at Leh Airport. Check in to the Hotel and rest for the remaining day to get you to acclimatize to the change in the altitude. 
You can visit the Shanti Stupa in the evening, once you feel comfortable to move out. This white dome-shaped stupa is erected on the hilltop and offers mesmerizing views surrounding the entire region. Then you can visit the Chawkhang monastery. This monastery is serene and beautiful, and you will find lots of prayer flags fluttering around the region. You can visit the local markets in the evening and indulge yourself in buying prayer flags, masks, paintings, thangkas, and woolen clothes like gloves, socks, sweaters and the most popular Pashmina Shawls. Stay overnight in the Hotel at Leh.

​Day 2. Leh local sightseeing

Leave to visit the monasteries today after early morning breakfast. You will be going to the most popular and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh - Hemis Monastery. You will also be visiting the Shey monastery and Thiksey monastery. En route, you will also visit the famous 3 idiots school and Sindhu Ghat. Stay overnight in the Hotel at Leh.


Day 3. Leh - Nubra Valley - Valley of Flowers

On the 3rd day, you will be touring the enchanting and mesmerizing Nubra Valley. With an early breakfast, you can get ready for a drive through the highest motorable pass in the country - The famous Khardung La Pass built at an altitude of 18,360 feet. Once you reach Nubra valley, Find yourself settled at the camps being assigned to you. 
Also, don't forget to visit the Hunder village which is made of silver sand dunes. Get a ride on a double hump camel safari and make pleasant memories for the day. You will next visit the towns of Hunder and Diksit and learn more about the local village culture. There are many hot water springs and monasteries in this area. Overnight stay will be at the camp in the valley.

Day 4. Nubra Valley to Hotel in Leh (125 kms)

After relishing an early morning sumptuous breakfast, leave from the valley. The drive here in the morning via the Khardung La Pass is exceptionally mesmerizing. After sightseeing, drive back to Leh by the evening. Check in to the Hotel at Leh and spend the rest of the evening, enjoying leisure walks at the Leh market. Stay overnight in the Hotel at Leh.


​Day 5. Leh - Pangong Tso Lake (135 km)

On the 5th day, you will get ready for the extremely spectacular and picturesque ride to Pangong Tso Lake. It is situated at an altitude of 4400 m. Drive towards the east of Leh and cross the Chang La Pass at 17500 ft. Pass via the Tangtse village in the Changthang region of Ladakh. You will be spellbound entirely to the scenic beauty all around you. Once you reach, get comfortable and set up your camp near the lake. Places on the border of both the countries, India and China, this lake is absolutely enchanting. Featured in the famous Bollywood blockbuster, 3 Idiots, the brackish water in the lake changes its colour with sunlight all through the day. Stay overnight at the camp.


Day 6. Pangong Tso Lake - Tso Moriri Lake via Tsaga La (270 km/9-10 hours)

Do not miss the early morning sunrise here if you are a photography lover. Leave Pangong with stunning memories and pictures and start your drive towards the largest lake in Ladakh - The Tso Moriri Lake. Based at an altitude of 15,075 ft drive up through Tsaga La, Chusul and Mahe Bridge to reach the beautiful Tso Moriri Lake. Spot the marmots on the way and reach the lake by evening. Check-in at your camp located near the lake. This lake has been declared as a wetland of international significance under the Ramsar Convention in 2003. You are staying overnight at the camp near the lake.

Day 7. Tso Moriri Lake / Toskar Lake  to Leh (235 km/8-9 hours)

Start your drive to Leh via Tsokar Lake and visit the Puga Geo-Thermal Gas springs, the Nomadic Rebo tents at Polo-Kongka pass on your way to the Tsokar Lake - a wetland area. Click photographs here if you are interested. You can also visit the monastery inside the tiny village of Thukje. Stay overnight at a hotel in Leh.


Day 8. Leh - Alchi/Uley (82 km/2-3 hours)/Alchi

Today you will visit Sham valley. On the way, you will visit the enormous statue of Lord Maitreya Buddha in the Likir monastery and have a look at the thousand-year-old murals of Alchi monastery. Continue your drive until you arrive at Uley/Alchi. Check-in at the Hotel or resort booked after completing the formalities. Relax and stay overnight.


Day 9. Alchi - Leh

Today you will visit the moonland, an area that is similar to the land condition of the moon. After this, visit the largest and oldest monasteries in Ladakh Lamayuru monastery. This monastery houses ancient thangkas, wall paintings, old murals and scriptures and different forms of Lord Buddha statues as well as other deities. Enroute you will also visit the Magnetic Hill, also known as the gravity hill and the Military Hall of Fame. This museum and memorial of the war heroes are conducted and managed by the Indian Army. Indulge yourself in some last-minute shopping during the day at the popular local markets of Leh like the Moti market, Balkhang chowk (for apricots) and supermarket. Overnight stay at a hotel.


Day 10. Leh - Israel (Departure)

Leave with enchanting memories and get an assisted transfer to the airport to board your flight for Israel. 

Apart from this, there are many tourist locations in Leh to visit like the Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Tsemo Castle, Namgyal Gompa, Sankar Gompa, Hall of Fame, Datun Sahib, Sidhu Ghaat and Zorawar fort. You may also explore various monasteries like Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery, Matho Monastery, Stok Palace and Stakna Phyang, Spituk Monastery. Visiting these monasteries entirely depend on your interest levels in knowing more about the locals and the culture in Ladakh.
