Of the many hill stations in India, Manali is one of the most popular destinations, especially for thrill-seekers and adventure lovers. You can enjoy a range of fun activities here, from hiking to skiing, para-gliding to kayaking, rafting and much more. There are also many places to go camping in Manali. But one of Manali’s most famous offerings is its trekking trails, on account of its mountainous terrain and high altitude. This makes it an excellent choice for avid trekkers, including families. 
Here are some of the best places to visit in Manali if you plan to go trekking with your family. ​


Beas Kund Trek

The Beas Kund Trek is one of the shortest but most popular trails for trekking in Manali. Suitable for all age groups, it is also the easiest trek and is ideal for beginners.
Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, glaciers and lush green meadows, the trek takes you along the Beas Lake, which is also a great place for camping in Manali. You can also have a hot spring bath in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings on the trek. Going through Solang Valley to Bhakarthatch to Dhundi, the trek ends at the origin of Beas Kund Lake, which is the highest point.
Duration: 3-4 days
Difficulty: Easy to moderate

​Hampta Pass Trek

The Hampta Pass Trek is another trail that is popular for trekking in Manali because of its convenience. The pass connects Spiti Valley with Kullu Valley in the foothills of the Himalayas, winding across the Pir Panjal range. The trek is known to be exceptional and very exciting due to its easy access, open meadows, glacial valleys and scenic landscapes. Going from Jobra to Balu ka Ghera to Shea Goru, the trail ends in Chatru. The views are breath-taking with the lush green Kullu valley on one side and the stark desert of the Lahaul Valley on the other.
Duration: 5-6 Days
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Season: Mid-June to September

​Chandratal Lake Trek

Located only six kilometres from Kunzum Pass in Lahaul and Spiti district, the Chandratal Lake, also known as Moon Lake, is crescent-shaped. An interesting feature of this lake is that the water is said to change colours throughout the day. It attracts a lot of adventure enthusiasts who come trekking in Manali. This trek can be undertaken from Kunzum La Pass or Batal. The view is stunning, and you can enjoy some beautiful fauna and flora on the way. With its long-winded landscape and snowy mountains, this trek is pretty much a picture postcard.
Duration: 4-5 days
Difficulty:  Easy to moderate
Season: June to mid-October
