5 Offbeat Places to Visit in Jodhpur with Family

Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination in Rajasthan that’s famous for its food and pretty blue houses. If you’ve been to the city, you must have definitely visited popular sightseeing spots such as Mehrangarh Fort, Ghanta Ghar, and Balsamand Lake.
But that’s not all Jodhpur has to offer! Here are five equally beautiful but less well-known places to visit in Jodhpur:

1. Narlai Village

At the foot of a hill in Rajasthan’s Pali district lies the scenic village of Narlai. A huge elephant statue sits at its pinnacle – a great spot to enjoy a panoramic view of the village. Not a place you will commonly find in Jodhpur sightseeing itineraries, Narlai has two prominent temples – Adinath Jain Temple and Shiva Temple – with some fine mural work on display.

2. Kumbhalgarh Fort

Located on the western ridge of the Aravalli hills, Kumbhalgarh Fort once belonged to the Kingdom of Mewar. This fort boasts of the world’s second longest wall (after the Great Wall of China). Do not miss the sound-and-light show held every evening. Not strictly listed among Jodhpur tourist places, Kumbhalgarh is certainly worth going the extra mile for. Include it in your Jodhpur package with your Club Mahindra membership and don’t miss the opportunity to be regaled by the wonderful cultural display here.
Timings: 6:45 PM - 7:15 PM
Entry fee: Rs 100

3.
 Kuchaman City and Fort

Kuchaman is the second largest city in the district of Nagaur and is one of the most interesting places to visit in Jodhpur and its vicinity. Kuchaman is replete with Shekhawati-style havelis and has its own fort full of beauties like the Sheesh Mahal and Meera Mahal. One can also witness marvellous frescos on Hindu mythology here. None of the other Jodhpur tourist places come close to replicating the charm of this city.

4. Nathdwara

Home to the famous Srinathji Temple, Nathdwara is a small Rajasthani village situated near the Aravalli hills. The temple is the village’s biggest attraction, featuring an idol installed in the 14th century. It depicts Lord Krishna’s seven forms. This ‘Gateway to God’ is a must-visit, and makes for a truly divine experience.
Temple timings: 5:30 AM - 6:30 PM
Entry fees: Free

5. Bundi

Bundi, a city of architectural marvels, is situated in Rajasthan’s Hadoti region. It has plenty of sightseeing attractions. There are forts, murals, stepwells, and numerous other places waiting to be discovered. The most notable of these wonders are Taragarh Fort, Raniji ki Baori, and Chaurasi Khambon ki Chhatri, a cenotaph built by the Maharaja of Bundi in 1683.
