Best selfie spots around Victoria Coach Station

London’s status as one of the world's great cities is not in dispute. This vibrant metropolis has just about everything you need to make for a memorable trip, whether you're in the British capital for just a few days or for weeks. But if you find yourself cooling your heels in Victoria Coach Station, you may not feel quite so positively about London.
In the UK, long-distance buses are called coaches, and Victoria Coach Station is where hundreds of these buses arrive as they shuttle people in and out of the city. An important part of London's public transportation infrastructure, the coach station is not really anyone's idea of a good time. But sometimes, there's just no way to avoid spending some time here.

Still, if you're facing a long wait for a connecting bus, you don't have to wander aimlessly around the departures hall getting overcharged for plastic-wrapped sandwiches to share with the pigeons. Instead, you can use this time to visit some of the best selfie spots in London and spice up your social media feed.
A short walk from Victoria Coach Station, you'll find some great locations for classic London photos. So drop off your bags at a Bounce luggage storage near the station and check out some of these photogenic spots.

Buckingham Palace

OK, so this one isn't exactly a hidden gem. One of the major palaces of the British monarchy and the home of the Queen until recently, Buckingham Palace is one of London's top tourist attractions. But it's also a mere 15 minutes walk from Victoria Coach Station. So if you haven't already seen the palace, now is your chance.
You can make it to the palace, get some great shots, and make it back to the station in plenty of time to catch a bus. Depending on your timing, you might even be able to witness the Changing of the Guard, a ceremonial spectacle that takes place outside the palace most days at around 11 AM.
But even if you don't get to see the pomp and ceremony of the Changing of the Guard, the stunning façade of the palace itself is a great place to get some selfies that will leave your followers in no doubt you've been to London.

Sloane Square

A little more off the beaten path, Sloane Square is one of the richest areas in London — which is saying quite a lot. And yet the homes of international millionaires are just a short 13-minute walk from Victoria Coach Station. Made famous by the reality TV show Made In Chelsea, Sloane Square and the area surrounding it are known for landmarks, high fashion, and the presence of the international jet set.
It may not be far from the coach station, but it certainly feels like it. As you walk down the bustling King's Road towards Sloane Square, it's easy to forget you're just a few minutes from one of London's main transportation hubs.
This is a great place to take some snaps with luxury cars or in front of the world-famous fashion store Harvey Nichols. But there are also some lovely green spaces nearby if you need a break from all the high-end shops. Either way, getting to Sloane Square from Victoria Coach Station is a great way to kill some time before your bus leaves.

King's Cross Platform 9 3/4

Depending on how long you have to make your connection, King's Cross Station may be reachable from Victoria Coach Station. It may take over an hour on foot, but the Victoria line of the London Underground will whisk you there in under 20 minutes.
And why, you may be asking, would you leave a perfectly good bus station just to see a busy train station? Well, if you're a Harry Potter fan, you probably already know the answer.
For the uninitiated, Platform 9 3/4 is the spot where young wizards board the Hogwarts Express to begin their studies at the famed wizarding school. It's also where you'll find one of London's most popular photo ops.
With a realistic-looking trolley disappearing into a brick wall, this spot is perfect for Harry Potter fans of all ages. And even if you're not a fan of the books or movies, it's still a cool place to take a selfie that will definitely get some likes on social media.
Once you've gotten your fill of Harry Potter selfies, head back to Victoria Coach Station and continue on your journey like the Muggle you are.

Hyde Park

If you have some time to kill before your bus leaves, why not explore one of London's most famous parks? Hyde Park is just a 20-minute walk from Victoria Coach Station, and it's a great place to get some fresh air and take some scenic photos.
With over 350 acres of green space, Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in London. And it's home to some iconic landmarks like Speakers' Corner, where anyone can stand on a soapbox and give a speech on any topic they please.
If you're feeling active, you can also rent a bike and ride around the park. Or, if you're looking for something more relaxing, there are plenty of spots to sit down and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Battersea Power Station

This may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of London, but Battersea Power Station is definitely worth a visit if you have some time to spare.
This decommissioned power station is currently being transformed into a massive mixed-use development, and it's already home to some cool shops and restaurants. It's also a great spot for photos, with its unique industrial architecture.
Getting to Battersea Power Station from Victoria Coach Station is easy — just take the District line of the London Underground. And once you're there, you can explore the area or grab something to eat at one of the many food trucks on site.

Conclusion

There's so much to see in London that a lifetime isn't enough to get to grips with the city, let alone a short break. At the same time, even if all you have is an hour while you wait for a coach, you can take advantage of some of the city's best photo opportunities.
Head out of the station and use your time in London to make your friends jealous of your social media feed. You know you want to.
